“Injustice and Violence: Armenian Defender and Family Face Unfair Charges and Brutality”

I would like to share with you a recent case that took place in Armenia. This information was posted on lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan’s Facebook page.

A criminal investigation is currently underway by the RA Investigative Committee. The accused is a 60-year-old defender with a remarkable history of participating in all the wars of Artsakh and saving the lives of 14 soldiers during the 44-day war using his own resources. In addition, he played a significant role in the construction of a church in the Ararat province.

However, the defender is currently facing a challenging situation. He is suffering from an incurable disease and his house requires repair work. Despite these circumstances, he is being charged with using violence while the court itself is subjecting violence to his family members.

Furthermore, his daughter-in-law, who takes care of a child with a heart disease, has been summoned to court, adding more pressure and distress to the family. It is worth noting that the defender’s son and the child’s mother, who were forcefully evicted from their home, are now also victims of violence.

This situation sheds light on the existence of unwritten laws in Armenia that have long prevented any Armenian family from resorting to violence against its own people. It is a stark reminder of the need for justice and protection in our society.

Oh, and not to forget, we have the Ministry of Information Policy (MIP), don’t we?
