An armed group operating near the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi has carried out a deadly attack, resulting in the loss of at least 20 lives and leaving numerous others injured, as confirmed by reports on Saturday. The incident prompted a response from the “Red Cross”, according to Reuters. Jerome Nyonsimana, a government spokesperson, revealed that among the victims were 12 children, two women, and one soldier. Local residents reported hearing gunfire and explosions during the attack. The “Red Cross”, which has been active in Eastern Congo since 2015 following the conflict with the Burundian government, announced the killing of a soldier and a civilian.
