Ancient Texts Unearthed in Europe and Asia Confirm Herodotus’ Claims: Used by Soldiers and Craftsmen to Acquire Knowledge

Old texts that were used by ancient soldiers and craftsmen to acquire knowledge have been found in archaeological sites in Europe and Asia. This discovery confirms the accounts of the old historian Herodotus, who stated that these texts, dating back to 800-300 BC, were indeed used by humans for knowledge purposes.

In a study published in the journal PLOS One, researchers have analyzed 48 samples of parchment from various regions in Ukraine. These parchments have been discovered over several decades. The research team used peptide mass spectrometry to study the parchment, a method that explores protein residues to determine the animal species from which the parchment was made.

The study revealed that two samples of parchment were made from animal skin that had been treated with oils and prepared for human use. The preparation process involved using not only cattle skin but also the skin of sheep, goats, and deer. Additionally, parchment has been found in tombs, suggesting that it was placed there by rulers or high-ranking individuals. Some of these artifacts have a remarkable history of about 2,400 years.

These findings shed light on ancient practices and provide valuable insights into the historical significance of parchment. The research team’s diligent efforts have uncovered valuable artifacts that contribute to our understanding of the past.
