“Russian and Azerbaijani Businessmen Engage in Talks on Regional and European Security and Cooperation”

Russian businessman Aleksandr Grushkon and Azerbaijani businessman Aras Azimov recently held consultations on external relations during talks on regional and European security and cooperation. These consultations were conducted as part of the Eastern Partnership Program and the European Union. The Russian Foreign Ministry reported the outcomes of the consultations, which took place on December 21-22.

The statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry highlighted that Grushkon received assistance from Hikmet Hajiyev, the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan on foreign policy. The meetings involved the participation of Deputy Ministers Elchin Amirbekov and Milli Mejlisi, as well as the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan, Samad Seyidov.

During the consultations, discussions centered around the situation in Artsakh and the differences between the two countries regarding European security. Additionally, the coordination of bilateral relations between the Eastern Partnership, the European Union, and NATO was a topic of focus.

The expert conducting the discussions also mentioned that issues related to regional affairs and European security in the South Caucasus were addressed. Furthermore, the protection of the interests of the Northern Caucasus and plans for joint defense activities were discussed.

Both sides expressed their willingness to continue maintaining a confidential dialogue on regional and European security matters. They also expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the consultations.
