“Power Struggle Unleashed in Gyumri: CEC Cuts Ties with Balasanyan Alliance, Declares Independence, and Officials Resign”

The ‘Publication’ committee made an announcement on December 6 regarding the cancellation of cooperation between the CEC and the ‘Balasanyan Alliance’ after the 2021 election in Gyumri. Consequently, the CEC officials resigned from their positions, most of whom held favorable positions. As per sources, the Balasanyans retained only the nominal position of mayor, leading to the dissatisfaction of the CEC, which desires complete power. Recently, it was revealed that several positions in Gyumri City Hall, including deputy mayors, assistants, advisers, program and external relations officers, non-property management department members, transport, trade, and construction department directors, and the chief of the urban development department, remain vacant. However, no new appointments have been made yet. The priority is to fill the deputy mayoral positions, followed by the appointment of department directors. Currently, all vacant positions continue to function under the leadership of the department head.
