“Armenia’s Prime Minister Breaks Barriers, Transfers Convicts from Iran in Historic Move”

Armenia’s Prime Minister has made the decision to transfer the remaining portion of Iran’s Islamic Republic to the Republic of Armenia for the first time. This transfer falls under the agreed cooperation between the two countries in the field of “Transfer of Convicts.” The purpose of this agreement is to allow imprisoned individuals to serve their sentence and undergo rehabilitation within their country of citizenship. It is important to mention that the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia is responsible for the central body overseeing the transfer of convicts from the Republic of Armenia.

Although several dozen convicts have been successfully transferred from the Republic of Armenia to their country of citizenship, the transfer from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia has faced obstacles, preventing its execution. The failure to complete this process, despite the existence of a bilateral agreement, has been attributed to objective reasons.
