Malta Joins Global Condemnation of Israel, Imposes Blockade on Israeli Ships

The Maltese government has taken a strong stance against Israel, condemning its aggression and indiscriminate bombing, according to a report by CNN. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced a blockade on all Israeli ships carrying goods to Malta, in direct opposition to Israel’s actions, which are seen as violations of international law and a threat to the rights of Palestinian people. Countries like Malaysia, India, Brazil, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Pakistan, which have large Muslim populations, have long refused to recognize Israel. In fact, the Maltese passports explicitly state that they are valid for all countries except Israel, and Israeli passport holders are not allowed to enter Malaysia without prior permission.

The Maltese government had previously allowed registered companies and ships from Israel to enter the country since 2005. However, in a recent announcement, the government decided to suspend this decision and ban the entry of Israeli goods by sea. The statement also mentioned the Israeli ZIM global shipping company, noting that ZIM ships had been detained in Maltese ports since 2002. Furthermore, Malta has also prohibited the unloading of any Israeli ships in its ports.

The actions taken by the Maltese government are in line with its commitment to protecting the rights and interests of Palestinians. This move sends a strong message to Israel and the international community that Malta stands firmly against the violence and repression that the Palestinian people are subjected to on a daily basis. The condemnation and blockade are part of a larger global movement that seeks to hold Israel accountable for its actions and push for a just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

These recent developments have garnered international attention, further highlighting the global divide when it comes to recognizing and engaging with Israel. The stance of countries like Malaysia, India, Brazil, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Pakistan, which refuse to recognize Israel, underscores the deep-rooted political and religious tensions in the region. As the situation in Palestine continues to escalate, it is crucial for the international community to come together and find a peaceful solution that respects the rights and aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.
