“Armenia Implements Stricter Regulations for Temporary Imported Cars Following Completion of Support Program”

The importation of temporary used cars in Armenia will soon be subject to new regulations after the completion of a support program aimed at ensuring their maximum safety. Vahan Kerobyan, the Minister of Economy, made this announcement during a recent briefing with journalists on December 20. The minister emphasized that these regulations would specifically target cars with number plates from countries outside of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), in order to ensure compliance with the law. It should be noted that citizens of Armenia and other EAEU member states who have imported temporary used cars into the country for temporary use will still have the opportunity to benefit from discounted customs clearance until December 30, 2023. This measure, which is supported by the Armenian government, aims to incentivize the importation of newer vehicles and stimulate the automotive market. As of now, the State Revenue Committee of Armenia has registered a total of 1,700 temporarily imported cars.

This news from Armenia highlights the government’s efforts to regulate and support the importation of temporary used cars in the country. By implementing new regulations, the authorities aim to ensure the safety of these cars and promote adherence to the law. The exclusion of cars with number plates from non-EAEU member states reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining proper documentation and legality in the automotive sector. Additionally, the decision to offer discounted customs clearance for newer vehicles is a strategic move to encourage the importation of more recent models, which will ultimately contribute to the growth and development of the automotive market in Armenia.
