“UN Launches Multinational Operation in Red Sea to Safeguard Shipping Amidst Persian Gulf Tensions”

The United Nations has launched a multinational operation in the Red Sea to ensure the safety of shipping amid rising tensions in the Persian Gulf, according to a report by Reuters. This operation aims to strengthen the security of several countries, including the United Kingdom, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, and Spain. The group will conduct joint patrols in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to combat any potential disruptions in international trade. The exercises commenced on Monday, with naval vessels and helicopters monitoring the international waters of the Red Sea, particularly the strait off the coast of Gaza.

This operation signifies a significant increase in international trade, as it serves as a crucial link connecting Europe, North America, and Asia. As a result, BP oil company has halted all current traffic through the Red Sea, and several shipping companies, such as Maersk, have redirected their shipments from the Suez Canal to the waters of East Africa in the Indian Ocean. Consequently, there will be a surge in traffic and increased transportation costs in the waters of East Africa.
