“Armenia’s Public Transport to Resume Limited Operations with Government Support Program”

Under the government’s program to support public transportation in Armenia, public transport will be allowed to operate for a limited time starting from December 18, 2023. As part of this program, the importation of certain transport vehicles is also permitted. These vehicles can be imported at specific customs offices:

  1. Vanadzor: located at 44 Moscowyan Street, in the Eastern Customs Office building.
  2. Syunik: located at the 7th km of the Syunik-Yerevan highway, in the Syunik Customs Office building.
  3. Yerevan: located at 10 Isakov Street, in the Yerevan Customs Service Center.

In order to import the temporarily transported vehicles, the receiving customs office must provide several documents. These include a document verifying the identity of the person importing the vehicles, the latest technical passport, the order for temporary importation, and other relevant documents pertaining to the transport vehicle.

Prior to applying for the temporary importation of transport vehicles for passenger transportation, it is necessary to place the vehicle in temporary storage. This is to ensure that the customs clearance procedure for the vehicle is completed at the designated customs house in Yerevan, located at Isakov 10. This requirement is based on the decision No. 2076-N of the Customs Union Commission.

When it comes to customs duties and taxes payable on imported transport vehicles, there are specific reductions based on the release date of the vehicle. For transport vehicles that were released less than 5 years ago, the customs duties and taxes will be reduced by 40%. For transport vehicles released more than 5 years ago, the reduction is 70%. It’s important to note that transport vehicles in temporary storage also receive reductions in customs duty payments. For vehicles released less than 5 years ago, the reduction is 60%, while for vehicles released more than 5 years ago, the reduction is 30%. The remaining burden of the customs duty payment will be borne by the government as per their decision.
