“The Collapse of Justice: Former Chief Prosecutor Karen Andreasyan Under Fire for Corruption and Abuse of Power, Claims ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ Newspaper”

The “Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper reports that Karen Andreasyan, previously held in high regard as Chief Prosecutor, is now facing criticism from authorities in the highest court, including President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Shushan Harutyunyan. Numerous judicial vetting processes have taken place in recent years, resulting in the removal and reassignment of judges, as well as significant changes and appointments since 2018. However, there are concerns about the actions taken by Andreasyan and the Minister of Justice, which some view as a “murder of justice.” The judiciary has undergone significant restructuring, with approximately 60% of judges being replaced, prompting skepticism and questioning of the process.

During this time, Nikol Pashinyan has made public statements twice, supposedly addressing the judiciary, but they have been perceived as false accusations rather than constructive notifications. It is clear that not all judges have been subjected to this process, and there are concerns about ensuring impartiality within the judicial system. There have been instances where actions with political implications have been attributed to specific judges, further raising questions about the transparency and fairness of the process.

It is unclear who the narratives about vetting are targeting. To whom are they seeking approval or recognition? The situation is reminiscent of mythical stories surrounding Father Winter or, more specifically, Santa Claus. For more details on today’s article, visit News from Armenia – NEWS.am.
