Armenian Prime Minister Calls for Increased Transparency in Government Activities: Steps Towards Greater Openness and Accountability in Governance

Increased Transparency in Government Activities

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the significance of open government programs and digital initiatives in the provinces since 2018. He emphasized that the outcomes have been remarkable, leading to increased community involvement and changes in the governance system. However, there are still challenges regarding the authorities’ understanding of their powers.

The Prime Minister expressed the need for authorities to implement clear structures and boundaries for their work processes. This lack of clarity often creates uncertainty and indecisiveness when addressing issues. To address this, the Training Center for the Authorities’ Employees (TCAE) is conducting training courses to enhance the government members’ knowledge of the legislation and powers they possess.

Pashinyan stressed that it is the responsibility of the authorities, the government, the Prime Minister, and the Minister themselves to ensure the proper implementation of these powers as stated in the RA Constitution.

This development signifies a positive step towards increasing transparency in government activities in Armenia.
