“The Fragile Fate of Armenia’s Treasures: Balancing Power and Protection in a Tumultuous Context”

The protection of Armenia’s treasures relies on the external context, but cannot solely depend on it. Various factors, such as the current holders of power, greatly influence this context. This was emphasized by Arthur Khachatryan, the spokesperson for the Armenian National Committee “Hayastan” during a press conference on December 13th at the National Assembly. When asked about the dependency of the agreement on cooperation with Azerbaijan on the external situation, Khachatryan highlighted the significance of global players and conflicts in determining the fate of cultural heritage, just as soldiers bear the consequences. He also mentioned that Azerbaijan has been able to establish effective cooperation with Turkey and other parties due to their non-involvement in hostilities, whereas Armenia, due to the aggression of Azerbaijan and the military invasion of Artsakh, has faced isolation from Moscow and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
