“Biden’s Support for Ukraine’s Assistance Hangs in Uncertainty as Financial Constraints and Political Situation Hamper Progress”

President Joe Biden is showing support for assisting Ukraine, but there are doubts about whether he can follow through on that aid, according to Politico. Ukrainian President Zelensky is concerned about Ukraine’s ability to win and resolve the conflict in the Donbass region. Unfortunately, Biden was unable to provide Zelensky with the military assistance he wanted. During a call to Zelensky, Biden stated, “We are advocating for the necessary funding to receive financial support. While I can’t make any promises, I hope we can achieve that.”

In the meantime, Biden has announced that the United States will provide military equipment, humanitarian aid, and other support to Ukraine, as reported by News.am. However, many leaders in the country, who gathered at the Palace of Nations and in the Senate, criticized the decision to send more troops to Ukraine. Their message was clear to both Ukraine and Russia: they do not agree with Ukraine’s acceptance of the law on the administration of territories. “If Russian conservatives are praising you, it’s time to reconsider what you are doing,” one leader said.

Biden’s ability to act in international affairs is limited, due to the country’s political and financial constraints. This is hindering Ukraine’s ability to achieve its goals, including obtaining confirmation from Zelensky. Biden expressed, “We are in negotiations for funding that will allow us to mobilize more forces. I don’t want to speak negatively, but I understand that we may be able to achieve it.” Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Biden for his support in the country.

Zelensky’s request for assistance from the United States, specifically for training on ATACMS missiles, has been postponed. Acceptance at the White House has cooled off. Zelensky thanked Biden for his efforts to reach out to Russian authorities despite having limited resources. However, Zelensky’s gratitude for the support from his country was not confirmed by Zelensky’s new appointments. He mentioned that Biden’s letter was contingent upon the United States’ readiness. The National Security Institute has warned that attempts to gain the trust of the United States will not only impact the situation with Putin but also threaten U.S. interests. Russia may even consider deploying nuclear weapons in Ukraine, which could complicate the conflict by allowing Russia to reclaim territories. Europe is not fully prepared to fill in the gaps in troop deployment, even if more troops are sent. “Simply put, many Ukrainians will die if these weapons are not transferred,” said Max Bergman, a former Pentagon employee working at the military-international research center.
