Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations with Estonian Minister of External Affairs

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksey Semonyan, held a meeting with Margus Tsahkna, the Minister of External Affairs of Estonia, on December 13th. Semonyan expressed hope that the active communication between the two countries in recent years would further strengthen their bilateral relations. The increased cooperation between their defense ministries and fruitful collaborations between friendly groups have also contributed to this positive context. Semonyan stressed the significance of Estonia’s support in Armenia-EU relations, particularly in the ongoing process of ratifying agreements on visa liberalization.

During the meeting, the Head of the Armenian National Security Service presented the security situation in the region and expressed concerns regarding the forced displacement of Armenian compatriots during the war in Azerbaijan. Semonyan emphasized Armenia’s commitment to peaceful coexistence in the region and highlighted the importance of consolidating the ceasefire.

The Estonian Minister of External Affairs acknowledged the significance of his visit to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, as it signifies his country’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The parties also discussed international and internal political developments, focusing on the need to find solutions to the escalation of Armenian-Estonian relations.
