“Former OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Emphasizes the Need to Prioritize Return of Artsakh’s People and Preserve National Institutions”

The main priority is the return of the people of Artsakh, providing them with a safe and valuable life there. During a recent discussion on the issue of Artsakh, former Prime Minister of Armenia and former OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Artak Beglaryan emphasized the importance of preserving national institutions – educational, cultural, chosen by the people – in order to maintain the identity of the region. Beglaryan believes that based on these national institutions, the people of Artsakh can continue their struggle. This is crucial for gaining support from Armenia’s authorities in international negotiations for the resolution of the conflict.

However, Beglaryan also acknowledges the need for constructive criticism of state institutions and the preservation of independence. Sadly, the current actions of Armenia’s authorities do not prioritize the realization of civic rights for the people of Artsakh. Instead, public announcements and actions seem to repress the people, contradicting the preservation of national institutions and independence, as stated by Beglaryan.

Despite these challenges, there are still obstacles to overcome in the pursuit of this goal. One such obstacle is the difficulty of organizing public events that symbolize the exercise of the country’s authorities in Armenia. Nevertheless, the focus remains on ensuring the safe return and prosperous life for the people of Artsakh.
