“Iran and Syria Strengthen Ties with Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement, Including Free Trade and Infrastructure Restoration”

Iran and Syria have signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement during the visit of Syria’s Prime Minister, Hussein Arnous, to Tehran, according to a report by Tasnim. Arnous met with Iran’s First Vice President, Mohamad Mokhber, on Saturday to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Several important documents were signed, including a free trade agreement and a memorandum of understanding on transportation, tourism, sports, libraries, and archives. Additionally, the two countries agreed to open maritime routes and strengthen cooperation between their respective transport ministries.

Mokhber expressed gratitude for the strong connections between Tehran and Damascus, describing them as “military, secret, and heartfelt.” He emphasized Iran’s special respect for Syria and its commitment to the welfare, security, prosperity, and well-being of the Syrian people. Mokhber also highlighted the frustration of the Syrian people’s enemies, as they realized that foreign and regional powers would eventually be expelled from Syria. He further emphasized Iran’s significant role in supporting Syria’s reconstruction process, with Damascus recognizing Iran as a key partner in this endeavor.

Furthermore, the delegates discussed plans for the restoration of Syria’s infrastructure and condemned Israel’s military operations in the Gaza Strip.
