“Former President of Advisory Council on the Right to Peaceful Assembly Elected with 84 Votes Despite Controversy: Exclusive Coverage in ‘Publication’ Magazine”

The former president of the Advisory Council on the Protection of the Right to Peaceful Assembly, Manvel Badalyan, was elected with 84 votes yesterday, according to “Publication” magazine. Prior to the election, Badalyan expressed a desire to meet with representatives of the Council of Public Observers. He believed that the voices of only the council members were not enough to secure his position, especially since he had previously been rejected when nominated for the Advisory Council. The Council had presented him with two artificial groups.

The closed meeting between Badalyan and the Council of Public Observers took place in a financial district. However, instead of choosing the candidate solely based on the council members’ votes, the CoP decided to select the candidate who had performed well during the meeting. Arpi Davoyan led the CoP team, while Badalyan represented the meantime. The CoP team was puzzled by Badalyan’s contradictory and absurd statements in public announcements. They questioned how someone with such inconsistent views could make sound decisions in the Council of Public Observers.

After the war, Badalyan made a statement regarding Pashinyan’s programs that still needed implementation. He expressed that these programs were in a precarious state at the time and exercised his right to freedom of expression to voice his opinion. He also promised to ensure political stability once elected to his new position.

During Badalyan’s candidacy, two members of Serge Sarkisian’s team, Hayk Mamijanyan and Anna Mkrtchyan, abandoned their support for Badalyan. They chose not to participate in the election despite being the ones who originally nominated him.
