This year, the Ministry of Culture announced that the “Holocaust and Genocide Remembrance” commemoration is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The Ministry’s statement emphasizes the global significance of the genocide and its impact on humanity.

In its preamble, the document acknowledges the immense tragedy brought upon mankind by genocide. It emphasizes the need for strengthening international cooperation in order to liberate humanity from this terrible tragedy.

Over the years, the commemoration has played a crucial role in shaping international legal norms regarding genocide. It has held those accountable for such heinous crimes, reinforced punishments for perpetrators, and amplified the voices of genocide victims. It is noteworthy that 153 countries have officially recognized this commemoration.
