“Joghovurd” newspaper has reported that the investigation into organized crime groups in the Republic of Armenia has officially begun. According to our trusted sources, the investigation was sparked by the uncovering of illegal activities by a company registered under the name of a high-ranking official’s wife. As previously revealed on November 28, “Hetq” published an article stating that the investigation has targeted both the owner and employees of the company. On November 27, the authorities took steps to move them away from the crime scene to ensure an uninterrupted investigation. As a result of the probe into the owner’s illicit activities, the government has suffered significant financial loss.

In relation to this case, the court has stated that on March 13, 2023, in the Ranchpar administrative area, a copper-molybdenum deposit of 6750 square meters was nationalized without proper authorization, leading to the destruction of a 2.4-hectare agricultural field. The owner now faces multiple charges, including manipulation and destruction of the land, as well as violations of the rules governing its conservation and use. Consequently, a criminal case has been initiated.
