“Armenian Government Spokesperson Rejects Ambassadors’ Appeal, Offers Classified Documents instead”

One month ago, we made three attempts to request information from the RA Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the ceasefire agreement signed by Azerbaijan. We wanted to understand the terms of the agreement and gather answers from the Armenian side about any violations. During the meeting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security on December 6th, the AG spokesperson, MP Ararat Mirzoyan, responded to questions raised by MP Gegham Manukyan of the “Armenia” faction. MP Manukyan asked about the potential rejection of the ambassadors’ appeal to the ECHR and the right to receive information. Mirzoyan expressed regret that the appeals were addressed based on their assessment and offered to verify the electronic correspondence.

Mirzoyan also stated that there was no need for such a meeting and suggested that their mediation was unnecessary. He invited the ambassadors with access to classified information to come to the government and register their letter in the section for classified documents. MP Manukyan reminded Mirzoyan that their response had already been forwarded to another letter. He then raised a question about former Prime Minister Suren Papikyan and the alleged $107 billion raised before the war on the Armenia-Turkey border. The reporter clarified that there was no discussion about Armenia-Turkey relations or the opening of the border during that time.

Mirzoyan stated that he couldn’t answer a question that wasn’t asked. In response to another question, Nikol Pashinyan, the current prime minister, mentioned that the road from Margara to Vanadzor was essential for connecting various Armenian settlements. He dismissed the claims about conspiracies and stated that these roads, like Yerevan, Sevan, Ijevan, Goris, and Kapan, were being constructed for the benefit of Armenia.

These developments highlight the ongoing discussions surrounding the ceasefire agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The RA Prosecutor General’s Office faced inquiries about the terms of the agreement and allegations of violations. The AG spokesperson, MP Ararat Mirzoyan, responded to these inquiries, clarifying the government’s position. Meanwhile, MP Gegham Manukyan raised questions about the rejection of ambassadors’ appeals to the ECHR and allegations against former Prime Minister Suren Papikyan. The prime minister, Nikol Pashinyan, provided further insights about the importance of the road projects connecting various Armenian settlements.
