“Closed-door Meeting at the Constitutional Court Reveals Tensions and Accusations: President and Deputy Chief of Staff Invited for Discussions”

The President of the Constitutional Court, Haykouhi Harutyunyan, and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the President have been invited to a closed-door meeting by members of the CC to discuss tensions and accusations against Harutyunyan. The EM-Armenia Universal Declaration of Humanitarian Solidarity has proposed holding discussions at the CC on the selection of members of the Constitutional Court and organizing joint consultations with representatives of civil society on conflicts within constitutional governance.

The “Zhoghovurd” newspaper has obtained details from the closed-door meeting, reporting that 5 questions were asked during the session, with two specifically directed at the Deputy Chief of Staff, Arsen Torosyan, and Tigran Sarkisyan. The Constitutional Court previously interrogated Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Torosyan regarding the health sector, but concluded there was no violation. However, Harutyunyan launched an inquiry into the matter.

The situation concerning Arsen Torosyan’s actions remains unclear, while Tigran Sarkisyan has faced concerns about free expression due to recent controversial actions. The Constitutional Court demanded an explanation from Harutyunyan regarding tension with her own deputy. Additionally, it has been revealed that David Sarkisyan, brother of CC judge Tigran Sarkisyan, requested to become a member of the CC, but his application was internally rejected. Harutyunyan also conducted disciplinary proceedings against CC judge Mariya Karapetyan, receiving support from Vladimiri Vardanyan.

In conclusion, the demands and comments of the CC representatives, including Haykouhi Harutyunyan, and Arsen Torosyan, have not yet been published. For more information, please refer to today’s issue of the “Zhoghovurd” newspaper.
