“Armenia Emerges as Key Partner for India in North Caucasus Region: President of India-Armenia Friendship Association Highlights Strong Ties and Mutual Support”

Armenia holds a significant position as a partner for India in the North Caucasus region of the Caspian Sea. The country has consistently supported India in the Kashmir issue, and conversely, India has backed Armenia’s quest to become a member of the MTCAX. Notably, Armenia is the sole nation in the region that has established a friendly relationship with India. RK Anand, President of the India-Armenia Friendship Association, highlighted these points during the “New Regional Initiatives” and “Chess of Happiness” conference on December 5th.

While India maintains good relations with Azerbaijan and Georgia, it is mindful of Armenia’s security concerns and actively supports Yerevan. The objective, as explained by Anand, is to create a balance of power in order to uphold peace and prevent further aggressions. It is crucial to emphasize that friendship with Armenia does not entail enmity with other countries. Rather, India strives to establish equilibrium within the region, aiming for stability and cooperation.

Anand further revealed that Armenia ranks as India’s fifth largest trading partner worldwide, and third in terms of exports. What makes Armenia especially noteworthy is its potential to become the first country to establish a global forward supply network, surpassing China. Anand accentuated the advantages that Armenia possesses, such as political security in the North Caucasus, energy security, and security in renewable energy sources.

Of particular interest is Armenia’s “Chess of Happiness” project, which closely aligns with India’s regional approach. Rananjay Anand emphasized this point during his remarks at the conference. The project reflects a shared vision and understanding between the two nations, illustrating their commitment to promoting happiness and well-being through strategic initiatives.
