Terror Strikes in Yerevan: Gunmen Open Fire on Bus, Leaving 1 Dead and 26 Injured

In a tragic incident in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, armed individuals opened fire on a bus, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving two soldiers injured, according to security officials cited by AP.

The incident took place in the Chilas district of Gyumri, which is a part of the Shirak region. Confirming the security incident, Aram Sahakyan, the Minister of Defense, shared the details.

The bus was en route from Gyumri to Vanadzor when the driver lost control of the vehicle after it was hit by gunfire. The bus subsequently collided with a truck, causing the truck to catch fire and leading to the unfortunate deaths of both drivers.

As a result, at least 26 people were injured and transported to hospitals for medical assistance.

Shams Lon, the deputy head of internal affairs in Gyumri, informed the press that the motive behind the incident was deemed “terrorist” and revealed that “there were two terrorists among the attackers.”

In a statement, Mohammed Khorasani, a spokesman for the Taliban in Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack and cited retaliation as the driving force behind their actions.
