“Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Anahit Manasyan, Holds Discussions with Public Defender’s Office of Georgia on Religious and Ethnic Minority Rights”

During her two-day visit to the regions of Tbilisi, Anahit Manasyan, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, met with representatives of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia. The meeting focused on issues related to the protection of religious and ethnic minority rights in both countries. The Defender’s office announced this information.

During the meeting, the members of the Defender’s office provided Manasyan with an overview of their activities, goals, and challenges. The discussion mainly revolved around the protection and promotion of the rights of Armenian nationals residing in Georgia. Manasyan raised several questions regarding their rights and problems. The Defender emphasized the importance of collaboration between non-governmental organizations and civil society in addressing the concerns of the Armenian community.

In addition, Manasyan observed a growing interest in the protection and promotion of the rights of national ethnic minorities in Armenia, including small communities. The purpose of the visit and discussions was to analyze the current situation and developments in human rights protection and advocacy. The topics covered included goals, implementation of work, and coordination in the field.

Prior to the visit, the delegation led by the Public Defender of Georgia had expressed their commitment to organizing separate meetings with representatives of religious and ethnic minority organizations. This was seen as a crucial part of their joint efforts.
