The disciplinary proceedings of the Administrative Committee of the Yerevan Municipality and the Administrative Districts of Kentron and Norq-Marash have revealed disturbing actions taken by the son of a prominent Yerevan resident. According to the investigation, the son, a 28-year-old, physically assaulted his 62-year-old father with the intent to extort a large amount of money. The incident occurred on July 6, 2022, at 20:30. The son demanded money from his father, and when he didn’t receive a positive response, he resorted to violence, injuring his father and attempting to forcefully take the money. However, the father managed to escape and seek refuge, and the son was later apprehended by law enforcement.

Further investigation into the incident revealed that the young man suffers from a psychiatric disorder that impairs his ability to carry out his mental responsibilities. He has previously been found guilty of “psychiatric and moral abuse” due to his use of mind-altering substances. Understanding the dangers posed by his actions, the young man has been sentenced to receive psychiatric treatment.

The extensive evidence collected during the investigation proves the guilt of the young man, including relevant financial documents. In light of his illegal activities, fines totaling 2,000,000 Armenian drams have been imposed. The investigation has now concluded, and the materials related to the case have been sent to the court for further actions.
