“No Civilian Casualties Reported in Mine-Clearing Machine Explosion, Ministry of Defense Confirms”

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, there have been no civilian injuries or threat to civilian lives as a result of the explosion of a mine-clearing machine. The statement also mentioned that no civilians have been hospitalized in any hospitals.

Earlier today, on November 24, an explosion occurred in the Syunik province. The incident took place around 16:10 near the village of Verin-Khothanan. The explosion involved a KAMAZ truck of the mine-clearing machine brand. The circumstances leading to the explosion remain unidentified. The preliminary information suggests that the explosion damaged a local resident’s house and left the KAMAZ truck in a damaged state. The KAMAZ truck belongs to the RA Ministry of Defense and is manned by 15 personnel. Out of the 15, seven have been injured, but their lives are not in danger.

This incident highlights the importance of maintaining proper safety measures in operations involving mine-clearing machines to ensure the safety of both military personnel and civilians. The Ministry of Defense’s assurance that no civilians have been harmed is a relief, as such accidents can have devastating consequences.

The Syunik province, located in Armenia, is known for its rugged terrain and remnants of past conflicts. The presence of mine-clearing machines in the area indicates ongoing efforts to disarm and clear any explosives left over from previous conflicts. These machines play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the local population and enabling the reconstruction and development of the province.
