“Environmental Group ‘APAGA HAYKAKAN’ Concerned About Ongoing Crisis in Armenia and Artsakh”

Members of the “APAGA HAYKAKAN” environmental group have expressed their concern regarding recent developments in Armenia and Artsakh. The ongoing ethnic cleansing and political situation in the region has led to the complete evacuation of the population of Artsakh. As a result, Armenian governmental and non-governmental actors, including former presidents, prime ministers, and the head of the “APAGA HAYKAKAN” environmental group, Ruben Vardanyan, have resigned and relocated to Baku. This mass exodus has significantly reduced the number of intellectuals in Armenia.

The current situation poses serious threats to the integrity, security, and territorial integrity of Armenia, as well as the well-being of its people. The rights of the population of Artsakh, as the main stakeholder, continue to be violated. Additionally, there is a growing division within Armenian society and the diaspora, undermining national unity.

Currently, the Armenian government operates with a lack of transparency. It is crucial to mobilize all available resources, primarily the intelligentsia and experts in the fields of security and development. It is necessary to reject obligatory militarization and military escalation, while fostering strong and reliable partnerships.

Amidst the situation in Artsakh, we are actively seeking a solution that ensures the safe and dignified return of its people to their homes, protecting their national, religious, educational, and cultural rights, including the rights of the Armenian minority. Furthermore, we emphasize the significance of collaborative efforts in international peacekeeping and the region’s restoration. Expert involvement is vital in developing effective mechanisms for progress.

We reiterate our commitment to assisting our compatriots affected by the conflict. Strong and sustainable development requires the establishment of an effective resource management system and wider collaboration among partners. Together, we can overcome the current challenges and restore peace and stability in Armenia and the Armenian world.
