Truck Drivers’ Protest at Polish-Ukrainian Border Leaves Thousands Stranded: Cargo Traffic Slashed by 4000 Tons Daily

Over 3000 Ukrainian trucks are currently blocked at the Polish border for more than 10 days due to a protest by Polish truck drivers against the Ukrainian authorities. The Kyiv and Warsaw have been unable to reach an agreement to cancel the protest. Ukrainian officials have reported that, prior to the protest, an average of 40-50 trucks were crossing the Polish border daily, which is twice as much as before the war. Most of these trucks were transporting goods using Ukrainian transport vehicles. Conversely, the Polish authorities claim that only a few vehicles are currently able to cross the border, as the drivers are protesting against the difficult conditions faced by carriers in the Warsaw region.

Spike Brokers, a transportation statistics monitoring company, has found that there has been a significant decrease in the transit of transport vehicles through the Polish border, resulting in a loss of up to 4000 tons of cargo per day. This marks a 7500-ton increase from the daily record set last month.
