“Government Announces Major Changes to Teachers’ Professional Development: Salary Increase for Successful Educators”

The government has implemented changes to the system of teachers’ and staff professional development, including a significant increase in the allowance for those who have achieved success in their development. During a government meeting on November 17th, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Arayik Harutyunyan, announced that a draft resolution will be presented regarding this matter.

According to Harutyunyan, a total of 6320 teachers have applied for staff professional development this year. For teachers who have achieved a success rate of more than 70 percent, an additional 30-50 percent allowance will be paid. In certain cases, the allowance may be increased by an additional 125,000 drams in total.

“As a result of this decision, 1630 teachers will also receive salary increases for a period of three years. In total, we will have 5179 teachers benefiting from higher salaries,” said Harutyunyan. He further emphasized that measures are being taken to expedite the professional development process in the upcoming years.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accepting the proposal, commented, “The aim of these proposed changes in professional development is to motivate teachers to actively participate in the process, with guaranteed salary increases for those who have completed their development phase.”

The proposed plan aims to ensure that teachers are more actively engaged in the professional development process, providing them with guaranteed salary increases upon completion. These changes are meant to encourage teachers to actively participate while also recognizing their efforts and dedication to refining their skills.
