“Armenia’s Public Debt to Reach 48.4% in 2024: Central Bank Chairman Calls for Sustainable Management”

The Chairman of the Central Bank, Martin Galstyan, revealed during a National Assembly session on November 15 that Armenia’s public debt is projected to reach 48.4 percent by 2024. Galstyan emphasized that although this figure is an increase, it remains below the critical threshold of 50 percent necessary for sustainable public debt management. Furthermore, he pointed out that the government’s upcoming budget for 2024 acknowledges possible macroeconomic risks and outlines measures to tackle them. Specifically, significant efforts will be made in terms of fiscal consolidation, demonstrating an intention to address and minimize potential risks.
