“Professor Charchyan Resignation: No Surprise, No Connection, and a Clear Message”

Professor Charchyan’s resignation does not come as a surprise to me and it is unrelated to my own circumstances. During a meeting with journalists in the RA National Assembly on November 14, Levon Kocharyan, the newly appointed head of the “Armenia” faction, announced that Charchyan resigned due to disagreements over the appointment of the faction’s leader. Some lawmakers expressed their dissatisfaction with this appointment, arguing that it should have been their decision.

Mihrdat Madatyan from the “Reborn Armenia” party was also present at the meeting and stated that they would not accept the mandates. Gerasim held the 49th position. While I did not personally meet with them, I welcomed Mihrdat when she approached me to discuss the matter. I have read their statements and have no reason to doubt them. If they played a role in helping secure my release from captivity, I am deeply grateful. It is understandable that they may have also had an influence in some way.

I attempted to focus on other matters or inquire about their well-being, but I was compelled to resign from my mandate. This is an undeniable setback.
