“Newly Appointed Head of ‘Armenia’ Faction Calls for Reopening Artsakh Page: Sovereignty Must be Preserved”

Despite the belief that Artsakh no longer exists, it is important for us to keep the discussion about this region alive. Levon Kocharyan, the newly appointed head of the “Armenia” faction, conveyed this sentiment during a meeting with journalists at the Armenian Assembly on November 14.

During the meeting, Kocharyan acknowledged that some might find it challenging or inappropriate to continue the conversation about Artsakh. Nevertheless, he emphasized the importance of not closing the chapter on this issue and finding a way to address it, as preserving the sovereignty of Artsakh remains crucial.

Kocharyan also stressed that the decision regarding Artsakh lies in the hands of the government. The demands of the Republic of Artsakh’s citizens should be properly acknowledged, and the security of Artsakh is a vital concern for Armenia. He attributed the current state of affairs to the war and some erroneous decisions.

Lastly, Kocharyan asserted that prioritizing the sovereignty of Armenia is the first and foremost step in addressing the Artsakh issue. It is clear that significant developments are continuing to unfold in this area.
