Lawsuit Accuses President Biden and Cabinet Members of Fueling Conflict in Gaza Strip

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, and two members of his cabinet have been sued for “contributing to the escalation of the conflict” in the Gaza Strip and exacerbating it. The lawsuit was filed on Thursday, alleging that Joe Biden, the US Attorney General, Merrick Garland, and the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, are responsible for “allowing and participating in the violence perpetrated by the Israeli government and its destruction.”

The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), an advocacy organization for civil liberties, submitted the lawsuit in New York. It represents Palestinian human rights organizations, the families of Gazan victims, and US citizens of Palestinian descent.

In its complaint, the CCR wrote, “The Israeli government’s deliberate attacks and use of propaganda against the civilian population, including invoking ‘human shields,’ have been well-documented and utilized.”

The lawsuit also alleges that the “claims of aggression” by the Israeli government are a response to the “systematic violence” committed against Palestinians, including “state-sponsored killings.”
