“Deadly Attack in Armenia’s Lori Province: Terror and Criminal Actions Unleashed, Multiple Casualties and Narcotics Found”

On October 4, 2019, a large-scale criminal and terrorist attack took place in the administrative district of Lori province in the Republic of Armenia. The attack occurred in Vanadzor and resulted in the death of three people, with five others sustaining injuries. According to the preliminary investigation, an individual living in a 50-year-old building in Vanadzor had invited two residents of the city for personal reasons on that fateful day around 23:00. During the meeting, one of the invitees demanded a considerable amount of money from the resident, who refused and promised to provide it the following day.

Simultaneously, the other invitee offered the resident a cigarette, which escalated into a severe physical assault without any noticeable visible injuries. One of the invitees produced a 9 mm gas spray of the “Burni” type while the 50-year-old man used a self-defense aerosol spray of the “Makarov” type, which is also about 9 mm in size. Shockingly, two individuals were killed by the firearms used during the altercation.

As the incident unfolded, gunshots were heard by a group of people nearby, resulting in the injury of a 43-year-old daughter of the 50-year-old man and a bystander. The bystander’s clothes caught fire, leading to gasoline being ignited by residents in the surrounding areas. Tragically, six individuals lost their lives in the fire. The daughter of the 50-year-old man severely injured one of the individuals with the firearms, and they succumbed to their injuries. Additionally, five people sustained severe bodily injuries.

During the preliminary investigation, authorities discovered approximately 142.84 grams of a narcotic substance known as “Marijuana” with an average concentration of 0.00937 grams. They also found around 689.97 grams of a narcotic substance called “Kaneph” with an average concentration of 0.99577 grams.

Based on the evidence collected, the daughter of the 50-year-old man and the suspect in the bystander’s death were charged with violating Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, specifically pertaining to exceeding the limits of self-defense. Subsequently, calibration was conducted based on their testimonies, leading to the issuance of a new search warrant.

Following the completion of the final investigation, the case materials regarding the incidents of firearms and narcotics were sent to the court for approval, aiming to obtain a court order.

Due to the defendant’s act of arson and unauthorized possession of a substantial amount of flammable chemicals, an independent investigation into the incident was initiated, and it is still ongoing.
