“Unprecedented Paris Event Shows Support for Nagorno-Karabakh and Abkhazia, Amidst Israel-Hamas Conflict, reports BBC”

This past weekend, an unprecedented event took place in Paris that is directly related to the conflict between Israel and Hamas and its impact on Europe, as reported by the BBC.

According to the report, representatives of the main political parties of the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities, who have never been actively involved in political life before, will participate in demonstrations organized by the “France for Armenia” (LFI) party. Their participation is expected to show support for the unrecognized republics of Nagorno-Karabakh and Abkhazia, solidarity with pro-Russian separatist “republics,” and opposition to denial of the conflict and illegal immigration, which has been intensifying since October 7th due to protests.

The report notes that interpreting the ideological significance of this event is challenging. For decades, French political structure has excluded leftist and opposition leaders, including LFI, which once represented marginalized partners in the gas field industry.

While the leftist opposition led by Melanchon critically assesses the conflict in Gaza, they accuse the aforementioned community, whom they suspect of having “ultra-rightist” views, of making statements about integration and engaging in racist discourse. Melanchon writes that most of them have not been party members due to their alliance with the old fascist class.

Activists in France, now known as “right-wing voices” or “national voices,” are increasingly conscious of their own identity, making them active players in the politics of denial, insecurity, and Islamization that many French leaders have been grappling with in opposition to progressive forces, concludes the BBC.
