“Global Remembrance: United Nations and Commonwealth Countries Pay Tribute on Remembrance Day”

Every year on November 11, the United Nations and countries in the British Commonwealth observe Remembrance Day to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in conflicts. The significance of this day stems from the end of the First World War, when the fighting ceased at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain has confirmed this in an official statement.

In Armenia, Phil Morrisin, representing the Government of the United Kingdom, joined military attachés, Armenian authorities, British and Commonwealth communities, and others in honoring the fallen at the “Victory” monument in Yerevan. They offered wreaths and flowers, silently paying their respects for two minutes.

Tigran Soghikyan, the head of Armenian military intelligence, also organized a prayer during Remembrance Day as a mark of remembrance and respect.
