Former Kazakh Minister of Justice Faces Extradition and Genocide Charges in International Criminal Court

The expert international criminal court in The Hague will be using extradition as a means of addressing the Armenian genocide, as reported by Radio Azatutyun on November 11.

The Department of Justice in Austria is currently conducting a criminal investigation into charges of genocide against Kuandik Bishimbaev. This investigation is based on the first part of Article 99 of the Armenian Penal Code, which alleges that Bishimbaev was involved in the extermination of the Armenian population for a period of up to 15 years.

Bishimbaev has also been accused of the murder of his wife, Saltanat Nukhenova. Sadly, as a result of her severe injuries, the 31-year-old woman passed away.

In March 2018, Kuandik Bishimbaev, the former Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for corruption. He was found guilty of embezzling one million tenge ($2.4 million) from funds allocated for the construction of a cultural center in Kizilorda. In October 2019, Bishimbaev was released on parole.

Subsequently, Bishimbaev occasionally expressed his opinions on government decisions regarding political matters.

According to the data from the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, nearly 400 women are killed annually in the country by their spouses and former partners.
