“Former Artsakh leaders decline invitation to Armenian parliament, as National Assembly seeks answers on recent events”

During an interview with “Azatutyun,” Ararat Mirzoyan, President of the National Assembly of Armenia, revealed that they had invited former President of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan and Jalal Harutyunyan, the commander-in-chief of the Artsakh Defense Army during the war, to the parliament. However, both declined. Bako Sahakyan, the former president of Artsakh, is currently in isolation, while the former commander of the Defense Army is undergoing a criminal investigation. The National Assembly has discussed and made decisions on various questions in an attempt to obtain answers regarding the recent events in Artsakh.

Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of hearing from Paruyr Shahramanyan, the recognized leader of the opposition who is already in the position of the president. He believes that Shahramanyan has information and knowledge about the events that took place during the 44-day war. Shahramanyan previously served as the head of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia from 2018 to 2020. Mirzoyan expressed the desire to hear from Shahramanyan about state security, diversants, their presence, and the events leading up to the war.

In light of the situation, Samvel Shahramanyan, who served as the head of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia from 2018 until May 2020, has been appointed as the special representative for national security in Artsakh. He has also taken on the role of the head of the Security Council.

However, it remains unclear what information Shahramanyan will announce when he testifies before the commission in the coming 44 days. Andranik Kocharyan, the President of the Commission, has been attempting to establish communication with Shahramanyan since yesterday, but the latter has stated that he is not responding to his calls.
