“CSTO Collective Security Council Convenes in Yerevan to Strengthen Security Cooperation”

The 55th session of the CSTO Collective Security Council took place today in Yerevan. The session was attended by the heads of state of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives from the European Security and Cooperation Organization, CSTO Executive Committee, and the Eurasian Alliance. The Chairman of the Collective Security Council, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, along with the Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Aleksandr Shaskolsky, and the Director of the Armenian Military Institute, Gegham Gevorgyan, were also present.

In his speech, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of equal and fair development in the collective security area, along with practical measures to support this goal. He welcomed any initiatives aimed at achieving this objective, including the decision to hold the session in Armenia.

Gegham Gevorgyan highlighted Armenia’s crucial role in upholding the obligations of the CSTO and ensuring fair conditions for participation in military exercises. He praised the professionalism and personal relations of the Armenian military delegation and commended the efforts of the Collective Security Council in this regard.

Aleksandr Shaskolsky acknowledged the evolving experience of the Armenian military delegation, which significantly contributes to the development of collective security. He emphasized the significant progress made in recent years to ensure the security of the participant states in the collective security agreement.

The session also included discussions on various organizational issues and concluded with the signing of a joint statement on strengthening security cooperation among the participating countries.
