“19th International Festival of ‘Roland’ Children’s Films: A Celebration of Hope and Cinema in Armenia”

The Armenian-French Foundation “Roland Bykov,” established by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia with the support of the French Embassy in Armenia and the French Institute in Armenia, will hold the 19th International Festival of “Roland” Children’s Films in Armenia from October 31 to November 4. This year, the festival will take place in Yerevan as well as in four regions of Armenia – Lori, Shirak, Syunik, and Gegharkunik. The festival is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Armenian cinema.

Out of the 186 films received from 38 countries, the festival program includes 74 films from 28 countries. From October 31 to November 4, the festival will showcase the best animated and feature films, creative meetings, and workshops at various venues such as the “Moscow” cinema theater, Yerevan Children’s Creativity Center, “AAB” school, “Tumo” Creative Technologies Center, “Narekatsi” Art Union, and “Yerevak” Art School.

In addition to Yerevan, the festival will also bring screenings and creative meetings to different regions of Armenia. The “Manasyan Children’s Center” in Gavar (Gegharkunik region), the theme park in Tavush (Ijevan, Tavush region), and the branches of the Henrik Igityan National Center for Cultural Studies in Vanadzor and Gyumri (Lori and Shirak regions) will all feature the best animated and feature films from the festival.

The festival’s main theme is “Towards Hope,” and special programs will focus on children and refugees affected by the conflict in Artsakh. These programs aim to provide support and hope for those impacted. Alongside these programs, the 19th International Festival of “Roland” Children’s Films includes a special program called “Best French Films,” which is part of the Armenian-French cooperation program led by the French Embassy in Armenia and the French Institute in Armenia. This program will showcase seven short and animated French films in various locations throughout Armenia.

The festival will kick off with an opening ceremony on October 31 at 19:00 at the “Moscow” cinema theater, featuring a red carpet event. The closing ceremony of the festival will take place on November 4, also at 19:00 at the same venue. All events of the festival are organized with an emphasis on artistic principles and creating an immersive experience for attendees.
