“Monumental Discovery: Ancient Statue of King Ramses II Unearthed in Egypt’s City of Minya”

The Egyptian-American archaeological mission has discovered the upper part of the statue of King Ramses II during excavations in the city of Minya, Egypt. The Ministry of Antiquities of Egypt confirmed this news, stating that the limestone statue is approximately 3.8 meters high. According to Basem Jihadi, the head of the Egyptian excavation team, the upper part of the statue, which was found around ten years ago, measures about 7 meters. Extensive research has affirmed that the upper portion of the statue indeed corresponds to Ramses II, one of ancient Egypt’s most influential pharaohs known for his military campaigns. The statue’s overall dimensions, including its upper part discovered twenty years ago, reach about 7 meters in height. Ramses II, also referred to as Ramses the Great, served as the third pharaoh of the 19th dynasty of Egypt and ruled from 1279 to 1213 BC. Hermopolis Magna, formerly known as Ashmunein and located on the western bank of the Nile River, acted as the capital of the Hermopolis nome during the Hellenistic period.
