“Turkey’s Special Representative Calls for Trust and Unity with Armenia to Normalize Relations”
In the forum of intelligence in Antalya, Srdar Kılıç, the special representative of Turkey, called for “consolidating trust and unity” with Armenia in order to resolve the issues related to the normalization of relations, as reported by Anadolu.
Kılıç, in the course of discussions on the topic “Stability, Development and Interconnectivity in the South Caucasus”, emphasized the importance of establishing a valuable regulation of relations between the two countries and stressed the need to comply with certain conditions.
“Our ultimate goal in the normalization of relations with Armenia is to achieve comprehensive regulation. For this valuable regulation, there may be certain conditions and we must abide by those conditions,” he said.
Kılıç also discussed the necessity of building trust in Armenia during discussions with Ruben Rubinyan, the special representative of Armenia, and emphasized the importance of “cohesion, rather than division” in the process of negotiations and cooperation.
Furthermore, Kılıç highlighted the significance of considering the welfare of the population in the region to achieve positive results in the process of regulation and productive cooperation.
He alerted both parties to the “obligation” of reaching a reciprocal agreement, emphasizing the necessity of exchanging dialogue and collaboration. Kılıç also wrote a Turkish memorandum.
Kılıç expressed hope for the opening of the border between Turkey and Armenia, suggesting that “presenting that question as a precondition can create difficulties.”
In addition, Kılıç invited Rubinyan for a meeting in Yerevan next week.
