On December 4, at 13:45, the employees of the Security Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia conducted a search at the court complex “Artik” of the Judicial Department. The search was carried out in the residential area based on operational information received. During the search, the employees discovered that the tobacco packaging machine in the cigarette workshop had been tampered with. Furthermore, they found 21 cigarette boxes that had been filled with loose tobacco.

The investigation revealed that A.A., an instructor at the Center for “Private Education and Rehabilitation Programs” of the RA Penitentiary Service, was involved in the incident. A.A. had been attending classes held by judges with the intention of gaining admission to the court complex “Artik”. Consequently, A.A. was ordered to bring the damaged tobacco machine to the court complex to account for the amount of the damage caused.

A.A. was subsequently detained by the court complex employees and was presented to the Shirak Regional Prosecutor’s Office of the RA Prosecutor’s Office. The person involved in the incident, as well as the department of the Shirak Regional Police of the Republic of Armenia and the department of the Penitentiary Service, were also present during the presentation to the prosecutor’s office.
