“HAMAS Rocket Strike: Near Miss on Israeli Missile Base Rattles Tensions in the Region”

According to a report from The New York Times, on October 7, a missile launched by the HAMAS group from the Gaza Strip hit the central part of Israel. The target of the missile was believed to be the area where Israeli intermediate-range missiles are located.

The New York Times, citing intelligence images, disclosed that the missile entered the Sdot Micha area near Beit Shemes, where HAMAS allegedly launched thousands of missiles with firepower equivalent to Israeli nuclear weapons during the country’s recent escalation.

Although the explosion was heard and caused a radius of about 40 acres to burn in the area, it was clarified that the military sites were not affected, based on the analysis of the consequences of the missile strike.

Hans Christiansen, head of the Mutual Information Project of the American Federation of Scientists, shared in an interview with The New York Times that the base targeted by the missile is believed to house 25 to 50 Jericho missiles capable of carrying intermediate-range warheads.
