Former Opponent Killed in Explosion in Gyumri to be Laid to Rest Today

A former opponent who was killed in an explosion in Gyumri will be laid to rest today at 18:00 in the Surb Astvatsatsin Church of Gyumri, with the funeral scheduled for December 6 at 13:00 in the same location. This information was reported by NEWS.am based on the Gyumri municipality’s announcement.

The statement released said, “We regret to inform that on December 4, in the Bariun district of Gyumri, Gevorg Arakelyan, a 31-year-old resident of the city, was killed as a result of an explosion caused by a bomb planted by his opponent. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, the residents of the city, and his colleagues from the volunteer defenders.”

Prior to this, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan had released information stating that a shot fired at the Armenian position on the border in the ZUV section of the Badaraunik sector in Vayots Dzor marz took place today at 14:35. Tragically, Gevorg Avetik Arakelyan, a serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces, sustained a fatal wound in the incident.
