Armenia and Iran Forge Strong Partnerships for Development and Cooperation: Iranian Minister
The Minister of Energy and Acting Minister Mehdi Sohbani expressed strong support for the development of Armenia’s population and infrastructure, as well as the promotion of long-term and sustainable development in the region. Speaking at the conference “New Regional Opportunities” and “Chessboard of Development” held on December 5 in Armenia, Sohbani expressed confidence that partnerships between Armenia and Iran could open up new opportunities for both countries.
Sohbani noted the significance of the relations between Armenia and Iran for cooperation and development. He highlighted the strong friendship and good neighborliness between the two countries, emphasizing that they have never posed a threat to each other and have always created opportunities for mutual development. The trade volume between the two countries has reached 1 billion dollars, and agreements have been signed in the fields of energy and infrastructure development.
Sohbani also mentioned that there is potential for further cooperation and that the closure of communication barriers would contribute to the development of cooperation not only between the two countries but also in the entire region. He pointed out that the route from India to Armenia through the Black Sea could be an attractive option for European goods, thus stressing the importance of India’s and Armenia’s participation in this project.
The expert highlighted the significance of transit opportunities for countries in terms of their role in the world. The more countries have transit options for transportation, the more significant their role becomes. This underscores the potential for development in infrastructure and transportation in the region.
