“Unidentified Drones Intercepted in Red Sea by USS Carney: International Security at Stake”
Yesterday, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that three military drones, believed to be operated by the American military, were spotted in the Red Sea. According to CENTCOM, these drones were hovering over international waters and associated with 14 different countries.
It was reported by Fox News that the USS Carney, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, was in the Red Sea near Bab al-Mandab Strait when it intercepted several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) flying in a suspicious manner. The operation was carried out to ensure security in an area where Yemen’s Houthi rebels frequently launch attacks.
The USS Carney had intercepted UAVs and small boats carrying explosives in the past few weeks. The first unidentified UAV that was moving towards the United Explorer was intercepted by the destroyer. It was determined that the UAV did not pose any threat.
On the same day, another unidentified UAV was intercepted and lightly damaged by the United Explorer. However, no other drones moving towards the ship were intercepted by the USS Carney.
In addition to the drones, two underwater vehicles named “Tief 9” and “Sofi II” were detected on the same day. The USS Carney successfully intercepted the first UAV, which was moving towards Sofi II.
CENTCOM emphasized that these operations are essential for international trade and maritime security as they protect vital trade routes of numerous countries around the world. Mamul News Agency reported that the United Nations will review all available means of retaliation in coordination with their international partners and allies.
A Pentagon spokesman clarified to Fox News on Monday that the American aircraft carrier was not involved in any special operations in the Red Sea. However, the USS Carney responded to the warnings without any injuries reported among the members of the international coalition of countries.
