“Germany Bans Sale of Eurofighter Jets to Turkey Amid Concerns over Syria Operations and Eastern Mediterranean Activities”

Germany is reportedly prohibiting the sale of Eurofighter fighter jets to Turkey. This decision comes as Germany expresses concerns about Ankara’s military operations in Syria and its involvement with natural gas drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean. Hürriyet Daily News, citing sources in Berlin, reported on this development.

Previously, Germany has criticized Turkey’s military activities in Syria. As a result, they have frozen the upgrade of Leopard tanks located near Turkey and halted the sale of tanks.

Last November, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced plans to purchase 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets worth 40 million euros as an alternative to the American F-35. He mentioned that Ankara has already received assurances from London and Madrid. There have been reports suggesting that Britain has been urging Germany to assist Turkey in acquiring Eurofighter jets.
