Deputy PM of Armenia, Artur Martirosyan, Highlights Importance of Youth Engagement in Panel Discussion on Armenia-EU Initiatives

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Artur Martirosyan, recently took part in a panel discussion on “Building a Bridge for Youth Engagement in Armenia and European Union Initiatives” at the Innovation Expo. The event was attended by Vasili Maragos, the Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia. Martirosyan highlighted the goals of the European Union’s “Understanding Europe” educational program, which aims to introduce secondary school students to the history of Europe, European integration, and the governance systems of the European Union and Armenia-EU relations. The program also focuses on English language learning and developing skills for active citizenship.

The panel discussion was organized as part of a larger meeting of program coordinators for Understanding Europe, with the participation of around 40 young people from Armenia and 10 European countries. Deputy Prime Minister Martirosyan expressed gratitude to the participants and emphasized the importance of youth involvement in public and military projects in Armenia. He stressed that the government values the active participation of young people in various programs that encourage civic activity and promote projects.

Martirosyan also discussed the “Youth for Understanding” program, which focuses on political engagement among young people in Armenia. He mentioned that the program’s concept has already been developed and involves representatives from the government, civil society organizations, and international organizations. Martirosyan highlighted the significance of the cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the EU in the realm of youth education and reforms, emphasizing the importance of studying this collaboration’s success and impact on international organizations.

During the panel discussion, program participants had the opportunity to pose questions to the speakers regarding challenges in the field of education and youth engagement. It is worth noting that the “Understanding Europe” program implements the “European Youth Parliament” (EYP) youth organization, which brings together young people from across Europe to discuss topics relevant to their generation.
